REED CITY, MI, UNITED STATES, September 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SBR TECH has won a Make It in Michigan Mobility Prototyping Grant award to extend its existing vehicle-mounted hydraulic power generation technology into military applications.

SBR TECH currently produces a wide array of onboard hydraulic generator systems for the fire apparatus industry. This award will accelerate the adaptation of this proven technology to meet the power-generation and battery-charging needs of military ground vehicles operating in remote and infrastructure-limited environments.

“Modern military vehicles are carrying an increasing number of mission-critical electrical loads, including communications systems, sensors, electronic warfare equipment, unmanned aircraft systems, and other battlefield technologies. SBR TECH’s onboard power systems give warfighters the reliable power and battery-charging capability needed to operate those loads without the added burden of a separate generator,” said Mike Lieto, CEO of SBR TECH.

The system converts a vehicle’s existing hydraulic or power take-off capacity into regulated electrical power. The military configuration will support controlled DC battery charging and regulated AC power for mission equipment, communications systems, unmanned platforms, field maintenance, and other operational loads.

Development, integration, testing, and manufacturing-readiness activities will take place in Michigan using SBR TECH’s Reed City facility and Michigan-based engineering and supply-chain partners. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027, followed by military customer demonstrations and pilot deployment opportunities.
