National accelerator re-selects SUSTAERO after first year delivered site selection, partnerships with Topsoe, Sasol, and NextChem, and FEL-1 engineering.
VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SUSTAERO has been selected for the Earth Tech: 2050 accelerator for a second consecutive year. Delivered in partnership between Foresight Canada and Social Innovation Canada, Earth Tech: 2050 is a nine-month accelerator dedicated to scaling top-tier climate solutions capable of driving global environmental and social transformation by mid-century.
“The support from Earth Tech: 2050 and our advisor Helen Platis has been invaluable,” said SUSTAERO CEO Keith Gillard. “A second year in the program gives us direct access to the mentorship, strategic investor networks, and industry expertise needed to lay the foundation for the world’s first billion-litre wood waste to SAF production capability.”
During its first year in the program, SUSTAERO signed technology partnerships with Topsoe, Sasol, and NextChem. It also selected the site for its inaugural facility, for which it achieved FEL-1 front-end engineering and completed a carbon intensity audit by Brightspot Climate verifying a fuel pathway of 8.79 gCO2e/MJ, an 89.7% reduction against the Canadian Clean Fuel Regulations baseline.
“SUSTAERO exemplifies the transformative potential Earth Tech: 2050 seeks to support,” said Brittany Goldhawke, Director of Earth Tech and Investor Relations for Social Innovation Canada and Foresight Canada. “Their platform combines technical innovation with a socially integrated approach that turns local wood waste into low-carbon fuel, protecting the environment while strengthening regional economies.”
Earth Tech: 2050 targets high-potential ventures addressing the world’s most urgent environmental challenges. SUSTAERO’s proprietary Power-and-Biomass-to-Liquid approach converts woody biomass into high-quality Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). SUSTAERO delivers an uninterruptible, domestic fuel supply chain while revitalizing legacy industrial infrastructure across the country.
“Having worked across both conventional and renewable energy sectors, I recognize that energy security is just as important as decarbonization,” said Helen Platis, SUSTAERO’s advisor under the Earth Tech: 2050 program. “SUSTAERO’s ability to turn domestic waste streams into a secure supply of jet fuel is exactly what Canada needs to build energy sovereignty.”
With ongoing backing from Earth Tech: 2050, SUSTAERO remains focused on advancing capital partnerships, site engineering, and regional supply chain agreements to bring its first SAF capacity online in 2030.
