Annual Golf Cart Grand Prix turns young participants into race car drivers for a day at The Underground in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, MO, UNITED STATES, August 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — R.K. Black, Inc. served as a corporate sponsor of the Kansas City Automotive Museum’s annual Golf Cart Grand Prix Youth Autocross, held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at The Underground, 600 West 31st Street. The event gives children with disabilities the chance to take the wheel on a real course — an experience many of them would otherwise never have.
For one morning, the course belonged to the kids.
Designed specifically for children with disabilities, the autocross pairs each young driver with a small, customized cart and turns them loose on a cone-marked course complete with a formal start and finish line. On-site instructors keep every run safe. The carts move at a gentle pace, but for the drivers and the families cheering them on, it feels like a full-throttle race.
The day is built to make every child the star of the show. Between runs, participants got event t-shirts, snacks and beverages, and the museum opened up its collection of exotic and classic cars, with booths from local public safety, nonprofit and educational organizations rounding out the morning.
Why R.K. Black Got Involved
Giving back is part of how R.K. Black does business. Each year the company puts more than 10% of its profits toward charitable organizations and lends support to community groups across its Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri footprint — among them Oklahoma Lawyers for Children, Fields & Futures and the Wichita Animal Action League.
The autocross fits squarely within that commitment. Local sponsorships cover the carts, the course and the extras that let each child feel celebrated, and a day that hands the spotlight to kids who rarely get one is exactly the kind of cause R.K. Black looks to stand behind.
